Testimonials

Below are statements from current GVP homeowners and other sources that touch upon their experiences with GVP Development. In most cases, we have omitted the surnames of the individuals to protect their privacy.

From David and Barbara

We have been living in our GVP home for two years and are thrilled by our purchase. The design is classic and will never go out of style. The layout, with the great room, living room and dining room on the second floor is a real entertainment plus. More importantly it affords us views of the trees and homes as opposed to the street. The first floor library is warm, functional and a real attraction. The two master bedrooms are large and well appointed.

Everyone that comes to visit is genuinely impressed by the attention to detail and the quality of the workmanship. Even though we have lived here beyond our warranty period, GVP has not hesitated to correct any problem that has come up. Their people are all professional and focused on customer satisfaction.

This is the fifth house we have purchased. Not one of the past builders has come close to matching GVP’s professionalism. They will be our first choice to build our next home.

From Kevin and Susan
The first thing that attracted us to GVP was the architectural style of the homes, both inside and out. GVP does a great job creating a unique look with eye-catching curb appeal, notwithstanding that everyone is basically building on lots that are approximately the same size. In a market like Lincoln Park, where there are countless teardowns and new homes going up, GVP’s attention to detail and planning creates a special home that stands out among the rest. For example, the use of the large entry hall on the first floor with a grand staircase leading up to the living, dining, kitchen and family rooms is a very nice departure from the usual floor plan where the front door opens to the living room. It creates more of a sense of privacy for the main living areas. Throughout the home, the attention to detail and outstanding workmanship is evident to even a casual observer. I have not seen a better built home. Even the mechanical room was designed with painstaking detail that caused our architect to remark that she had never seen a home planned any better.

From the owners of the company to the GVP employees on site, a homeowner could not find a more pleasant or responsive group to work with. Everyone has a “can do” attitude complimented by an understanding and considerateness which was appreciated very much in our case, a home with small children (age 3 & 5) and all that entails in terms of scheduling, keeping things clean and having friendly people on site.

From Mark and Vanya
Buying and moving into a large new home is a complicated and long process and after 3 years of working with GVP, it has been a surprisingly pleasant experience. We were glad to be working with a local family business, as they made us feel like an important part of their business, despite how many homes they are involved in at any point in time. We also feel as though GVP has been very responsive to any issues or questions we have had regarding our home. If a repair is needed, they have been very quick to respond and have handled the repairs in a very professional manner. It has been very reassuring to know that GVP is still a partner with us in our home. We have appreciated GVP’s willingness to be of assistance with all issues related to our home.

From Jason and Laura
This was our first new home experience and after hearing all of the horror stories of our friends and their builders, we were astonished by how great it was to work with GVP. It was the shortest “punch list” that our inspector had ever created for a new home. After two years, we have had no issues.

We were first attracted to the home by the clear craftsmanship and attention to detail, and then the family-friendly design put us over the top to make the purchase.

The home’s millwork package was outstanding and it was the first thing guests always commented on when they entered the house. Our GVP home was very unique in a market full of similar homes because of its millwork package and elegant, yet family-friendly design.

In hindsight, we particularly appreciated the modern conveniences of the audio/visual system design and the kitchen and master bath fixtures and appliances that blended well with the aesthetics of the home. The walkout patio was added bonus, as expected.

From Susan
I purchased the first single family home that GVP had ever built. Prior to building my home, GVP had exclusively focused on building multi-unit condominium properties. As one might expect, I was a little hesitant about looking at a home that was a builder’s first foray into the single-family home market.

My fears were quickly laid to rest the moment I walked into the GVP home! I was impressed by the quality of home’s craftsmanship and its unique floor plan. As I continued walking through the house, it just kept getting better and better! I had been actively searching for a home for several months and was becoming quite frustrated by the lack of creativity and detail in the available houses on the market. I knew immediately that I would buy the GVP house.

I also enjoyed working with GVP’s entire staff. The finish selection and implementation process went very smoothly. I thought that the mark-ups on upgrades were fairly priced. Any post-sale, follow up service issues that arose were handled in a timely manner. I would highly recommend GVP to anyone considering building a custom home. In fact, I have already done so!

Comments of judges from Fine Homebuilding Magazine for a best built-ins competition
GVP’s use of rich mahogany for a mantle, built-in bookcases and paneling brings to mind the old world charm of a British manor’s library. Beautifully designed and skillfully executed, the space created by GVP has “warm and inviting” written all over it. Well done.

Stunning, elegant, beautiful. This one is first place in my book!

If we are talking about “built-ins” then this room gets first place. The most elusive aspect to building built-in cabinets was achieved here. They fit the room perfectly, they look like they have been there forever, and I can’t imagine the room without them. Great job.
